In addition to the many great things about last night’s South Park takedown of the Redskins and the NFL was the timing, as it aired the night before a Washington game. That said, even though the campaign to change the ‘Skins name is just, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been joined by obnoxious people. Case in point: Phil Simms claimed a few months back that he wouldn’t use the Redskins’ name during broadcasts even though he already has a few times this season. Phil Simms: too dim for ideals.

I didn’t realize until Adam Schefter pointed out this morning that all three Thursday night road teams this season have lost by at least 20 points (though only two can blame it on the short week – the Packers had a while to prepare to get trounced in Seattle). Leave it to the Redskins to let a team snap that streak, even one as bad as the Giants.
New York finally picked up its first win of 2014 on the Sunday over the preciously unbeaten (though hardly considered stalwart) Texans. Eli Manning didn’t even turn it over a single time! Washington lost to the Eagles but not without giving Philadelphia a hard-fought game plus an actual fight. DeAngelo Hall was lost for the season in the second half of that game with a torn Achilles. Normally I would question whether that should even hurt the ‘Skins at all, but his replacement at starter is likely to be rookie fourth-round pick Bashaud Breeland, so… less of a question, I suppose.
The loser tonight falls to last place in the NFC East. Last place in the NFC East should mean contraction, but as well as know, the NFL is far from perfect.
