How the @Redskins Tweet Could Be Much Worse

Leave it to THE Washington Football Team to continue to trip over their own PR team and make themselves look foolish in the process. Yesterday, the teams’s account repeatedly shared players’ Tweets supporting club president Bruce Allen’s letter drafted in response to Senator Harry Reid’s calls last week to change the Redskins name because of its racist overtones. Smart. Shows solidarity within the organization, even if misguided.

Today, the team took to social media today and invited their fans to tell Reid what “Redskins Pride” meant to them.

Obviously this being the internet, the plan has backfired, as demonstrated in the above images and sample of the responses:

The only way this could have been worse for the @Redskins Twitter account would have been if they had Tweeted out the following image.


When last seen, Dan Snyder was looking for the nearest Verizon store so he could send a shipment of burner phones preprogrammed with #RedskinsPride hashtags to go along with the the bulldozers he sent to buy their support.
