There are certain songs that can’t be fully appreciated without hearing the hook.

On a quick glance, Atlantic Star’s “Send For Me” could be taken as just another down-tempo R&B love song, from an era in R&B that produced a lot of similar and watered down sounds. However, before this sultry single from the New York group’s 1981 album Radiant falters from sappiness, lead singer Wayne Lewis follows the bass groove up a notch and lures listeners in the with an impassioned outreach plan to keep the lady in his life. Then, once listeners succumb to his quiet storm cloud nine, the hypnotic beat drops out from underneath and sends us into an entrancing bridge that smooths everything right back out.

See, once you fall for one part of something special, eventually appreciating the flaws are inevitable.
