As you can tell from write-up, I wasn’t too enthused with last week’s installment of “Hard Knocks”. It started with minor fallout to the decision to cut Chad Johnson, followed by 55 minutes of narrative about borderline roster casualties plus Ryan Tannehill being named starting QB by a mildly prickly Joe Philbin. Again, not necessarily things that are pointless but not exactly great TV, either.
Going into this week, you should expect footage of the back-room dealings that led to the Vontae Davis trade to the Colts. At first, I considered this a potentially watchable development for this week, but then I remembered that this could very well lead to a Jim Irsay cameo on the show. No one should be subjected to a show featuring Peter King and Jim Irsay within a four-episode span. We do know that former basketball playing, horrible blocking tight end Les Brown got cut, so fingers crossed his hot girlfriend got sexy to console him in a room where HBO leaves its hidden cameras.
Obviously, if you’re expecting the entertainment level to approach that of the Jets season, you’re going to be disappointed. For the feats taken to get this series out so well polished so quickly, I still find this season fascinating and worth my time, especially on an otherwise desolate Tuesday night. So, join me, won’t you?
