The opening Cowboys drive got a few first downs and thus wasn’t a total disaster. Philadelphia came back with a seven-play, 48 yard drive that nearly converted a 3rd and 20 but still managed a field goal. The Cowboys, once again, got a couple more first downs but had a drive died out once it seemed like it might result it points. At the point, Kyle Orton was 7/8 for 67 yards, so not playing terribly, but still not making the play necessary to get Dallas into scoring range.

Again, the Eagles drove into Dallas territory. 0n a 2nd and 9 from inside the Cowboys’ 30, Nick Foles floated one in the vicinity of Jason Avant, who beat Jeff Heath on a jump ball to get the Eagles inside the 5. On the following play, Foles rolled out and hit LeSean McCoy in the flat for the first touchdown of the game.

The teams traded possessions then Orton hit Terrance Williams for a 39-yard gain to get Dallas to the edge of scoring range. Following a DeMarco Murray stretch play to get Dallas closer, Orton found Gavin Escobar on broken coverage to bring Dallas within three at 10-7.

Another Dallas stop and the Cowboys got it back near midfield looking like they might actually take control of the game. Then Orton threw a bad interception inside two minutes and 30 seconds later, the Eagles were up 10 points once more. Orton finally realized the “throw it to Witten on every play” strategy and that set up another field goal to put Dallas down a touchdown at half.
