For most artists, coming up in the game exposes their growth, which can in turn expose their awkward early material. Yet, when a songwriter with platinum credentials (Kanye West, Diddy, Big Sean, Rihanna) like Eskeerdo decides to move from behind the scenes to the forefront, the initial exposure listeners get is pretty damn solid.

Within the first thirty seconds of this Florida native’s debut single “Devil’s Work,” the refined clarity of his sound is clear. His diction and emphasis on words are on point. His mixing and mastering is perfect. Plus, the hazy production by DJ Infamous is a well-flipped version of a Miike Snow remix of the same name and gives Esk the platform to show his stuff. Aside from the somewhat inflated chest on this rightfully confident artist and a handful of obvious rhymes, this is definitely a next level debut song.

The question is, can Eskeerdo continue to live up to his own hype? If the sound stays this quality and his upcoming EP Xplicit can provide a bit more substance upon dropping this April, we’re willing to bet so.
