Lloyd Banks – “Shock The World”

Back before The Unit was The Unit, I remember being so impressed with how easily Lloyd Banks commanded 2Pac’s “Can’t C Me” beat, I actually ended up buying The Hunger For More. While that may have been a bad decision in hindsight for me personally since the release was mediocre at best and got less spins than the discs that came with my college textbooks, poor sales and fading public appeal haven’t hindered the man with Hip-Hop’s preeminent facial hair from trying to channel his former appetite.

After two lackluster albums and almost ten years in the limelight, last year’s sequel to his Interscope debut undoubtedly increased interest for the Southside Soldier and has given him the confidence to return and “Shock The World” once again on this new audio assault. Sounding as menacing as ever over producer Automatik’s parade of murder, this track should help keep Banks in the limelight and hopefully tie down a release date for the Cold Corner mixtapes he’s been pushing back since the end of 2010.

That or he’ll use the momentum to help his boss’ World Peace campaign. Let’s hope for the former.
