Yelawolf Feat. Eminem & Gangsta Boo – “Throw It Up” (Prod. By Will Power)

Upon reading the listed artists, Yelawolf’s “Throw It Up” may seem like the oddest pairing on a rap record but it’s actually not. His Tennessee roots mean he undoubtedly listened to more than his fair share of “the old Triple 6 Mafia” when the group still featured Gangsta Boo and other originals. Still, the last time I heard anything about Boo she had robbed a Dollar General and/or had found Jesus. Whatever the case, ‘Wolf pays homage by bringing her into the track and, as Boo stated to Vibe, allowing her to “just be myself” and hearing her say “yeah, hoe” repeatedly warms the ears.

And then there’s Emimem, who’s not Andre 3K elusive but still doesn’t make just any old appearance. Honestly, I’m not sure where Em thought he was headed with his verse but I feel like I rode shotgun on a strip mall shopping spree that was pretty damn fun. For all the idiosyncrasies here, all three rapid-fire rappers deliver but the tie that binds on “Throw It Up” may be Will Power’s piano-driven production, which creates a cohesiveness all its own but may get overlooked in the fuss regarding who’s on the mic.

Radioactive releases on November 21st and is available for pre-order on Amazon. For all the Shady Slumerican’s done thus far with previously heard records, the album looks like it’s shaping up to be a winner.
