Rochelle Jordan – “Follow Me” Video

While we eagerly await Rochelle Jordan’s true debut album, there’s not a whole lot we can do but happily accept any new material she decides to offer up (such is the good will earned from a couple of very promising mixtapes). In this case, it’s a video for “Follow Me,” a track from her upcoming EP that was premiered back in December.

You don’t get RoJo’s stylistic coherence without some semblance of collaborative continuity, so it’s no surprise that she’s linked back up with production partner KLSH, and director Sharon Jane D. for the carefully stylized new visuals. “Follow Me” is a particularly razor-sharp take on the post-Drake Torontoist R&B sound (characterized in part by a deep Aaliyah influence, atmospheric, late-night driving bounce, and melody-focused vocals), and it’s carried equally by Jordan’s easy, magnetic swagger – the kind that separates her in a genre in which standing out isn’t always the easiest thing to do.
