Queens births MCs. Period.
Unfortunately, they all share too many similarities to make them standout as “stars.” But that doesn’t negate the fact that they are, for the most part, sharp tongued lyricist with descriptive lyrics. Think about it because even the older, original version of Nore could paint a vivid picture.
Enter Ali Vegas.
Or perhaps the proper word is “re-enter.”
Weird but cool, catchy name. Started @ real young in the late 90’s. The only significant thing I could remember about was that he came in the game young & dissed Clue. (Anybody got an mp3 of “The Apology”?) After that, he got low & wasn’t heard from again.
But in recent months, he’s starting to get a little burn again, thanks to signing to Lamar Odom’s Rich Soil Entertainment label. “That’s Where I’m From” first caught my ear (Previous Post – “Suckas Never Play Me”) and now “The Town Bought It” has me paying attention.
It’s nothing overwhelming, but the pace & the strained, youthful sound of Ali’s voice is a break from what we hear so much of in the current rotation of rap.
