Theophilus London Ft. Menahan Street Band – “Rio” Video

Last month, Theophilus London turned up with “Rio,” his first new song in some time. And what day could be more fitting than hump day for Theo to whisk listeners away using the accompanying video, directed by Tim Cruz, and produced by Mike Mihail for Guerilla Hollywood.

Much like the audio, the video pulls off a masterful performance of drawing the listener (me) in. For close to five minutes, where I was and what I was doing was all but forgotten. “Rio” represents beautiful music, serving as an applicable soundtrack in a wide range of settings almost as like a musical chameleon. It’d suffice anywhere from happy hours, to background music at wedding rehearsal dinners or while stuck at the day job trying to drown out annoying colleagues. Possibly more relevant to the majority of listeners, the tune also embodies a therapeutic change of pace opposite of the more popular rough and rugged material of the current day.

Now excuse me while I go run this back 10 more times. “It sounds so soulful. Wouldn’t you agree?” – (c) Jay
