Pay Homage To The Last 20 Years Of UGK

Recording good music means nothing if there’s no lasting impact. For Bun B and the late-Pimp C – collectively known as UGK – they’ve done both. It’s crazy to believe the group’s debut album, Too Hard To Swallow, turned 20 years old last week. In association with that milestone, a mini-documentary of sorts was crafted detailing Bun and Pimp’s place in the hallowed halls of Hip-Hop.

Testimonials from 9th Wonder, A$AP Rocky, Freddie Gibbs, Big Boi, Killer Mike, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Waka Flocka and more populate the near 30 minute clip. By the end, one conclusion should be more than apparent. Pimp and Bun put Port Arthur on the map, but it’s the lives they touched far beyond the Texas state lines that tell the true story. UGK isn’t “one of the best Southern groups ever.” They’re one of the best, period.
