The New England Patriots released quarterback Tim Tebow today causing an immediate run on schadenfreude as broke out their giant “BREAKING NEWS” banner for a controversial player known more for not playing than he is playing. Despite having both God and Patriots owner Robert Kraft lobbying for Tebow to make the final roster, common sense ruled as head coach Bill Belichick forced a deluded league to realize the young man was just not a good NFL quarterback. Tebow’s release along with other former college quarterback standouts Vince Young, Dennis Dixon, Jimmy Clausen and Matt Leinart in recent days follows the old adage about fooling some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but facing Green Bay’s defense is not the same as playing against Florida International.

As of this time, there has been no official statement from the biggest Tim Tebow fansite, TimTeblog.

Other notable cuts so far today include Chicago Bears backup quarterback Jordan Palmer, San Diego Chargers tackle Max Starks and sadly for us here at Kissing Suzy Kolber, Patriots punter Zolton Mesko. It’s a shame we never got around to writing more about his adventures with teammate Rob Gronkowski in our “Gronk In Space” serial. Hopefully his residual checks from us will pay for bus fare home.
