There’s A Beer Made From Elephant Sh*t But You Can’t Buy It Because It Sold Out Minutes After Being Released

If you thought buying limited edition sneakers was tough, try buying beer made out of elephant poop. Japanese based brewery Sankt Gallen decided to make their beer a special kind of way – buy using coffee beans made of elephant dung. Un, Kono Kuro – a play on the Japanese word for ‘crap’ – sold out in minutes despite its high price, which can be attributed to the cost to make it.

Originating from the digestive system of animals in Thailand’s Golden Triangle Elephant Foundation, the beans cost £65 ($99USD) for 35g, the price reflective of “the difficulty of getting a usable quantity from the animals.” While the whole thing sounds gross initially, those who’ve tasted it give Un, Kono Kuro rave reviews.

“A contributor who tasted the beer for website said: ‘Usually people talk about aftertaste when drinking beer but with Un, Kono Kuro the word afterglow is much more appropriate.

“‘After downing the last drop, slowly rising from my throat and mouth was that afterglow. The combination of bitter and sweet stayed fresh and lingered in my head. It was a familiar aroma that accompanied me through the entire beer.’”

Gives a whole different meaning to drinking shitty beer.
