The Best Man Holiday‘s hint of a sequel to the sequel was about as subtle as a fart in a library. If you remember, the movie ended with Quentin (played by Terrence Howard) telling his boys he was getting married. To whom? We’ll have to wait until April 2016 to find out.

The Best Man Wedding is set to be released April 15, 2016, with writer-director Malcolm D. Lee returning for the third installment and Sean Daniel producing.

1999’s The Best Man earned $35.1 million domestically, while last year’s The Best Man Holiday took $70.5 million.

Universal says the cast will be back. The stars of the previous films include Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard, Harold Perrineau, Morris Chestnut, Monica Calhoun, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall.

During the American Black Film Festival in June, Lee and Chestnut told that the Holiday… followup would include romance, sex and “it will probably be the funniest of them all.”

All I know is it better not be Shelby. Waiting two years just to confirm what was heavily implied in the sequel is a little dumb. Also hoping it’s not a How I Met Your Mother deal where they’ll wait until the near end to reveal the bride, and then kill her off so that Q and Shelby can end up settling with each other at the very end. THAT’S NOT HOW TRUE LOVE WORKS!!!!!
