“UK2K” – Kentucky Wildcats The First NCAA Team To 2,000 Wins

While it’s probably been some time since you’ve seen someone on the street wearing a Kentucky Wildcats sweatsuit to match their Air Forces, the once dominant institution is shaping back to championship form; starting the season 12-0 and becoming the first team in NCAA history (as in all sports,) to win 2,000 games.

Who woulda thunk the Cats would turn it around instantly after missing the tournament just last year? Records were meant to be broken and they’re after all of them. John Calipari broke Adolph Rupp’s record for the most wins for a first-year head coach at Kentucky and meanwhile, the lady Wildcats are on pace to break the school’s longest winning streak.

The total verdict for Kentucky is 2,000-631-1 in 107 seasons. Up next is the North Carolina Tar Heels with 1,992 wins and the Kansas Jayhawks who have 1,980. Should the Wildcats wind up hanging a banner up in the rafters come March, it’ll be déjà vu with memories of Carmelo Anthony because you know John Wall isn’t staying. For the time being, though, it looks like he’ll have to settle for being in the strongest program in college basketball, according to Dan Issel.
