NBA Fines J.R. Smith $50K For Shoestring Prank

We laughed at J.R. Smith’s ignorance ingenuity when he was first caught untying Shawn Marion’s shoes. What’s seen as playful to some – including Smith by his own admission – might not be to others. Count the NBA’s suits as members of the second group.

After Smith tried the trick again (and failed) on Tuesday, the league took action. In response, the Knicks guard got slapped with a $50,000 fine from the league, according to Bleacher Report’s Jared Zwerling. J.R. pulled the stunt again even though coach Mike Woodson publicly spoke out against the maneuver.

Also, the current buzz is the Knicks may be shopping Smith, who hasn’t been that pleased with the team’s decision to cut his brother and their losing ways as a whole.
